The fountain of love
Updated: Feb 15
Love is eternal and strong - unchanging and holy!

Our current journey also tells about the power of love, my dear friends!
It will take us to Govedartsi.

Legend has it that this very place has remained in history as a symbol of true and eternal love.
What does it says?
It all starts like in fairy tales:
"Once upon a time there was a tsar..."

He was the tsar of the Bulgarians - tsar Ferdinand.
It so happened that the tsar was passing through these lands - through the beautiful village, hidden somewhere on the northern slopes of the lovely Rila.
The most spruce, the most bonny and attractive of the girls in the village was Yaninka - a slender and elegant girl.

The tsar saw her and immediately fell in love. Lost his mind over this girl.

Lost his sleep. He did not like the food. The water did not quench his thirst. His days were hard and long, and his nights were torturous and dark.

But fate was adamant - it was not destined for this love to be possible.

Legend has it that as a result of these impossible love thrills, here, in this very place, a spring gushes out.

The fountain of love!

I was there too! And I drank from its cold water and washed my face!

The locals told me "Boy, who drinks from this water, eternal love will never pass him by!"
Its a wonderful place today!
And the water still flows today - as it was many, many years ago, when Ferdinand fell in love with Yaninka.
How to get to the fountain of love?
