Natural landmark Smolyan Waterfall – a beautiful and full-flowing urban waterfall on Kriva Reka in the "Chilingirska" neighborhood in the city of Smolyan

The natural landmark Smolyan Waterfall is located on the outskirts of the town of Smolyan, in the heart of the Rhodope Mountains, at the end of the old Chilingirska neighborhood.
The waterfall is hidden under the road behind the houses on the western outskirts of the city.
It is located along the small but full-flowing Kriva River, even in summer.
That's why even in the height of August, the waterfall is not dry, like many others. In winter, if the temperatures drop, interesting ice figures can form, depending on the fall of the water.
Its height is 20 meters, and the area is called Salihagov's Ravine.
Folk memory connects the Smolyan Waterfall with the cruel and hard-hearted Salih Aga - a ruler during the Ottoman rule, who administered justice by throwing the guilty off the cliff over the waterfall.
A narrow path leads to the waterfall, which will take you to a bridge over the Kriva River.
Crossing the bridge, you will find yourself next to the waterfall itself, where there are benches for fans of the song of water.
There are stairs built nearby, which probably lead to the waterfall, if you are coming from the main road above it.
How to get to the city of Smolyan?
Smolyan is a city in Southern Bulgaria, located in the Perelik-Prespa section of the Western Rhodopes at a high average altitude of 1035 meters, making it the highest located regional city in Bulgaria.
It is located about ten kilometers from one of the largest winter resorts in Bulgaria - Pamporovo and Mechi Chal.
The city was formed on June 18, 1960, as a result of the unification of the cities of Smolyan and Ustovo, as well as the villages of Raykovo and Ezerovo.
It is the administrative center of Smolyan Municipality and Smolyan District.
Smolyan is also one of the longest cities in Bulgaria - nearly 25 kilometers, which is due to its linear development along the Cherna and Byala rivers.
Smolyan is located:
244 kilometers (about 3 hours and 36 minutes by car) from the capital
98 kilometers (about 2 hours and 03 minutes by car) from the city of Plovdiv
428 kilometers (about 5 hours and 56 minutes by car) from the city of Varna
321 kilometers (about 4 hours and 04 minutes by car) from the city of Burgas
How to get to the natural landmark Smolyan Waterfall?
The natural landmark Smolyan Waterfall is located near "Vodopada" Street in the city of Smolyan.
The alley itself is quite narrow. That's why you can leave your car near the intersection of "Vodopada" Street with "Maestro Georgi Atanasov" Street. Then calmly walk along "Vodopada" and in no more than 5 minutes you will be enjoying its monotonous roar.
