Much has been written about the charming charm of the unique waterfalls near Krushuna, but that doesn't stop you from succumbing to their magic once again.
How to get here?
They are located near the village of Krushuna, Letnitsa municipality, Lovech district. If you are driving on the road Lovech Letnitsa, in the center of Alexandrovo turn right in the direction of Krushuna. There are signs that will take you to a large parking lot where you can leave your car.
There is a comfortable and wide eco-trail that will take you to each of the waterfalls. The trail starts from the lowest part of the cascade and gradually climbs to its top to descend again to the starting point of the route. There are also many places for rest and relaxation, where you can rest, eat and relax in the thick shade.
Krushuna Waterfalls, as well as the natural landmark Maarata, are part of the 100 national tourist sites.
The largest waterfall is twenty meters high, after which the water splits, forming several arms and a number of smaller waterfalls.
You will need between an hour or two to explore all the interesting places along the eco-trail. The difficulty of the trail is low, only in some places it is slightly increased and it is necessary to be careful, especially if it was rainy the day before.
If you want to enjoy the waterfalls in all their beauty and splendor, choose the period of spring high water for your visit.
The river of waterfalls is called Maarata and springs from the cave located at the top of the eco-trail. It has given the name of the whole area, which has been declared a nature park. The name is of Turkish origin and means, as you might guess, "cave". Nearby you will find many caves, the most famous of which are "Boninska", "Waterfall", "Gornik" and "Urushkata".
